Health and Fitness Week is co-sponsored by the Manhasset Public Schools’ Physical Education Department, Manhasset SCA and Manhasset CASA and offers students the opportunity to try new fitness activities, as well as keep track of their own physical activity and healthy nutrition. The Munsey Park Garden Club invites the community to a program on Container Gardening by Old Westbury Gardens’ greenhouse supervisor Scott Lucas. He will advise on all aspects of container gardening from plant selection and design to choice of container and the best soil to use. Mr Lucas’ expertise is evident at Old Westbury Gardens where he is responsible for growing all the plant material for the Gardens, its plant shop and cutting garden, and for all the floral arrangements throughout the mansion. •Stroke Support Group. North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset offers a free weekly support group for stroke survivors and caregivers every Friday from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 300 Community Dr., Entrance 3, and Apt. Bldg. #304. Each meeting begins with a general social period from 10 to 11 a.m. From 11 a.m. to noon guest speakers give presentations on a wide variety of topics. Lunch is from noon to 12:45 p.m. (bring your own lunch, beverages provided). From 12:50 pm to 1:30 pm, physical therapy is provided for stroke survivors, and concurrently a separate caregiver’s support group meeting is held.
