Tuesday, July 7

Active Seniors

Active Seniors of Manhasset meets every Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in rented quarters at the Unitarian Church on Shelter Rock Rd. Phyllis Becker is its director and leads the group in its activities including luncheons at local restaurants. Because many of the group no longer drive, bus transportation is available. Bus pickup is at one’s house. Call Mrs. Becker at 365-8493 to be included. Meetings are in a bright cheery room and desserts and beverage are offered. Bring your own sandwiches. Get up card groups for bridge and other games, bingo and board games. This is a chance to get out and make new friends and keep up with the old ones. If schools are closed for snow days, meetings won’t be held.

Duplicate Bridge

Manhasset-Lakeville Fire/Water District

Summer Schedule

The Board of Commissioners of the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire and Water Districts will meet Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the weekly business of the district. All meetings will be conducted in the Boardroom at the District Office, 170 East Shore Rd., Great Neck, unless otherwise publicly notified. The regular office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The board is available on a daily basis to respond to concerns, questions and issues of the district residents pertaining to fire/water district matters. Manhasset Rotary Meeting

Senator Johnson to Hold Mobile Office Hours

Senator Craig M. Johnson, (D-Nassau), will be sponsoring upcoming mobile office hours at the Manhasset Library, 30 Onderdonk Ave., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The mobile office hours program is designed to make it easier for residents to bring their concerns, suggestions and ideas to Senator Johnson’s office. Information on a variety of topics, including, what to do before you enter the hospital, motor vehicle rights, choosing the right college, and lowering prescription costs will also be available. Golf Classic

The Joseph C. Zoller Memorial Fund holds its Fifth Annual Golf Classic at the Plandome Country Club on July 28 and this year’s outing is dedicated to Rocky Pacent. This event supports the scholarship fund established at Fordham University in Joe’s name after his untimely death at the age of 39. The day begins with breakfast and registration for golf.
