Manhasset Special Education Director Allison Rushforth will outline the special education services, practices, and focus for the 2008-09 school year. She will give an overview of program enhancements and discuss the resources available for students within the district's four public schools and three non-public schools. Active Seniors of Manhasset meets every Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in rented quarters at the Unitarian Church on Shelter Rock Rd. Phyllis Becker is its director and leads the group in its activities including luncheons at local restaurants. Because many of the group no longer drive, bus transportation is available. The Theater Academy at Manhasset High School presents Arthur Miller's play The Crucible, under the direction of Robb Fessler. Keep Manhasset Beautiful is a non-profit, grass-roots organization of volunteers dedicated to a cleaner, greener and more beautiful Manhasset. KMB was founded in 2007 by Sevan Ogulluk and local residents concerned about, among other things, an increasing litter problem in the community. KMB's first community clean-up event will take place on May 17. A group of volunteers will spend a few hours picking-up litter in designated areas in Manhasset. Additional volunteers are welcome.
