Every year the Manhasset Booster Club hosts an Annual Day of Baseball to acknowledge "America's sport," honor the graduating senior players, and watch the Manhasset Boys Varsity Baseball team play a fun-filled and lively game against East Rockaway.
This year, the Manhasset High School Booster Club, in conjunction with the Indians Rock Field of Dreams Committee and Manhasset PAL Baseball, invite one and all to a special Annual Day of Baseball on Saturday, May 9. This will be a special event, as the formal dedication of the new baseball field will take place at 2:30 p.m., prior to the Varsity game.
What began a year ago as a dream, has come to fruition with the completion of the renovation of the Varsity Baseball Field. So in addition to the usual festivities, which will include a food tent and DJ this year; New York State Senator Craig Johnson, Nassau County Legislators Judi Bosworth and Wayne Wink, and Manhasset school officials will be on hand for the official ribbon cutting and dedication of the Field of Dreams. What's more, the Manhasset Booster Club will pay tribute to Coach Rich Hess who, with the win against Mineola on April 21, became the most successful baseball coach in Manhasset's history.
This event is a great opportunity for all the sponsors and many friends of Manhasset Baseball who backed the Field of Dreams effort to come and see the results of their support. Additionally, any Manhasset PAL baseball or softball player who wears their jersey to the game will receive a free hot dog courtesy of Manhasset PAL Baseball.
The day will start with the Girl's Varsity Softball game at 10 a.m. on the lower field, followed by a Girls PAL softball game at noon. At 11:30 a.m., the Boys JV game will take place on the new upper field. The Field of Dreams dedication will begin at 2:30 p.m., followed by the Senior Player Ceremony, and Varsity game at 3:30 p.m. Go Indians!
The community came together to make the Field of Dreams happen and this is another chance to come together to celebrate on Saturday, May 9!
