Flower Hill Park, located at the corner of Heights Road and Port Washington Blvd, seems to be getting better all the time. There is now electricity for lighting and a beautiful stone stage area at the northeast corner of the park. The Easter Egg Hunt hosted by the women's club was a great success despite the frigid temperatures on March 28, and now, it was announced at the monthly meeting of the board of trustees, entertainment specials are going to be held there this summer.

Tentative plans are in place to have: a large screen available on July 25 for the showing of a family movie; a mobile stage in place on Aug. 2 for the "Magic Al" show; and a musical presentation by Jimmy Ryan sometime in the summer months. The definite dates, times and rain dates will be made available in the near future. Check the new village web site: the exact information. It is also a good idea to visit the updated and newly renovated site for the latest copy of the mayor's Newsletter, the dates of all board meetings, village history and many other recently added features. The site is user friendly and will be used to issue news releases to the residents in the future. You can sign up to receive the news electronically and can easily send an e-mail to Mayor Weiss, the village trustees and other staff members.

Items mentioned at the meeting:

By the end of this summer, all the roads in the village will have been repaved or repaired within the last few years.

There is a serious effort being made by the village treasurer, Kathy Wade, to collect delinquent taxes. To date, the effort has proven very successful and residents are advised to be mindful of their tax liabilities.

The tax rate for the village will decrease slightly this year causing a small reduction in village taxes.

The restaurant Limani, located at 1043 Northern Blvd. in Roslyn, has received a permit for a one-time outdoor cooking event on April 18. Portable units will be set up outside of the restaurant to prepare lamb roasts in anticipation of the celebration of Greek Easter on April 19. So, if the wind is blowing in the right direction, you might find yourself longing for a roasted leg of lamb as you walk along the streets of the village.

The next meeting of the board will be held on May 4. Logo
