Mary Del Pietro, 94, formerly of 122 Park Avenue, Manhasset, passed away at her daughter's residence in Smithtown on March 14, 2009.
Mary was a lifelong Manhasset resident, being born there in 1914 and living there until April 2008 when she moved to the Sunrise Assisted Living Center in Smithtown to be closer to her family.
Mary was a very well-known figure in Manhasset who was loved by all. A very self reliant and independent individual throughout her entire life she was an inspiration to her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Mary was generous to a fault and a very special lady who will be greatly missed.
Prior to moving to Smithtown, Mary was a member of the Active Seniors of Manhasset, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and was an avid bridge player with her many dear friends in the Manhasset area.
She was a dearly beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mother-in-law. Mary is survived by two sons: Peter of Chandler, AZ; John of Farmingdale; and two daughters: Denise Dennett of Smithtown; and Margo Evans of Clearwater, FL. She also was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mary was laid to rest alongside her husband Alfred at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury after a service at Fairchild Funeral Home in Manhasset on March l8, 2009.
