The Manhasset Public Library Annual Budget Meeting is Tuesday, March 31 at 8 p.m. in the library community room and the public is invited to attend. The proposed increase in the amount to be raised from taxes is 1.97 percent over last year's budget.
The Manhasset Public Library proposed budget for 2009-2010 follows with (2008-09) totals provided for comparison.
Total Operating Expenses: $3,462,055 ($3,564,700); Less Anticipated Receipts: $123,720 ($305,600); Total Operating Budget: $3,338,335 ($3,259,100); Debt Service: $1,125,700 ($1,118,631); Total Tax: $4,464,035 ($4,377,731).
The library budget vote and trustee election will be held at the library in the Community Room on Tuesday, April 7 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Incumbent trustee Elisa Paone, appointed to complete Seval LaRocca's term, is running uncontested for a term of five years.
Anyone may vote who is registered either with the Manhasset School District or with the Nassau County Board of Elections, is at least 18 years old, is a U.S. citizen, is a resident of the Manhasset School District, and is not disqualified pursuant to Election Law §5-106. Voter Registration takes place at the library on Tuesday, March 31, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
