The Manhasset U-14 Girls Premier Soccer team, the Kick Chicks, won their second LIJSL division championship in two years. The Kick Chicks completed the fall 2008 season with a 7-1-0 record, scoring 22 goals while surrendering only eight, with four shutouts. The defense, led by Danielle Gallo, is the team's strongest unit and has played together since its inception five years ago. She is joined by defensive teammates Christina Manis, Emily Albrechtsen, Clare McIntee and Hannah Phillips who have consistently shown an ability to shut down high scoring teams season after season. The midfield, which provides the team with the most depth, includes Katharine Nicosia, Savannah Martin, Lauren Procaccino, Jennifer Juliano and Alissa Tripodoro, who were instrumental in setting up goals for the team's dynamic forwards. The team's high-powered offense is led by outstanding scorers Arianna Celifarco, Bridie Gahan and Daniela Rodriguez and is supported by the depth of Emily Mason, and the returning Mollie Moroney who spent last season in IR. The team knows that backing up all their great play is Mollie Ritterband, one of the best goalkeepers in her age group year after year. The team is trained by former Manhattanville College standout Dave Ferreira.
This team will be merging, in spring 2009, with some of Manhasset's best seventh-grade players and some new eighth grade players. Coaches Tony Celifarco and Ron Gallo thank all the players for their time and commitment and the parents for their continued support and encouragement. The Manhasset High School Girls Varsity team, coming off its first undefeated season, has a lot to look forward to as these outstanding players try out for placement on the team during the summer. Good luck girls.
