According to Sixth Squad detectives, a dentist dining at Pearl East Restaurant, 119 Northern Blvd., Manhasset, on Saturday, Jan. 17, reported to police that he had used the valet service at the restaurant and that person or persons unknown took the keys from the valet station and stole his 2008 Mercedes.

The New York-Long Island Region of the Special Olympics held its first meeting to discuss the 5th Annual Winter Festival and Polar Plunge that will take place Feb. 28 at North Hempstead's Beach Park in Port Washington. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the plunge takes place at noon.
