St. Mary's fourth grade girl's basketball team, coached by Tim Cole and David Ritterband, celebrated an undefeated season after winning their final game on Sunday, Dec 14. The team ended their season with a 12-0 record.
"The girls really came together as a team, and all the girls contributed in many ways," Coach Cole stated. "It was a pleasure coaching you-Congratulations, girls!"
Many of the fans and parents noted how the team practiced hard, learning to execute plays and becoming relentless on the offensive and defensive ends of the court. The team also showed great teamwork as they were unselfish in passing the ball to the open player, particularly in their fast breaks.
"The team learned that every play in a game counts," team coach David Ritterband noted.
After the final game, the coaches and fans voted team most valuable player awards. The team MVP awards are: Defense = Lauren Suga, Lucy Pavolich, Jenna Weitman; Shot Blocker - Stephanie Cole, Emma Reilly; Rebounder - Estafania Loredo, Lauren Suga, Emma Reilly, Stephanie Petras, Harmony Limoggio-Lepore; Covering the Fast Break - Carina Lewandowshi, Emma Reilly, Stephanie Cole; Steals - Jenna Weitman, Leah Ritterband, Kayla Keriazes; Scoring - Kayla Keriazes, Stephanie Cole, Leah Ritterband, Stephanie Petras; Jump Shooter - Harmony Limoggio-Lepore, Laura Sanseverino; Power Drives - Kayla Keriazes, Stephanie Petras; and Foul Shooting - Carina Lewandowski, Leah Ritterband.
