Merry Christmas from the Manhasset Park(ing) District. On Friday, Dec. 26, 2008 I parked in the 80 percent empty parking lot at the Manhasset Railroad Station and received not one but two overtime parking tickets. Total cost $80. I do not have a parking permit but then again the Park(ing) District can't accommodate all the eligible residents yet they continue to tax all to subsidize a limited facility that could and should be self-sustaining. How about some consideration on all the obvious near empty days surrounding holidays, Christmas, New Year's etc. They finally bag the meters in the shopper lots at Christmas, possibly they could even manifest another wave of common sense at the station. They could even list the Park(ing) Commissioners by name as they do on all the monuments they build at taxpayer expense.
Another example of the waste, inefficiencies, and inequity of "Special Districts."
Will it ever end?
