Thomas Wayne McMillen
Thomas Wayne McMillen of Wilmington, DE died Wednesday Oct. 15, 2008. He was born March 27, 1940 in Flushing, son of the late Wayne McMillen and Pearle Harshbarger McMillen. He grew up in Manhasset and graduated from Syracuse University.
Mr. McMillen was an avid sports fan and especially loved lacrosse. He also enjoyed fishing, tennis, and gardening. Mr. McMillen was a retired Burger King franchise owner. He was a wonderful father and husband and will be missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Sally McMillen and children, Katherine and Jeff McMillen, both of Wilmington, NC and Kerstin McMillen Qualls of Spring Hill, FL.
A visitation for family and friends was held Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008 at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road, Wilmington, DE. Following the visitation, the family welcomed friends to their home.

Robert "Bob" Timmel of Flushing, formerly of Whitestone and Manhasset, passed away on Oct. 1, 2008 at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset. He was 97. He was born on March 5, 1911 to Albert and Amelia Timmel in Whitestone. He graduated from Xavier High School in Manhattan and St. John's University School of Pharmacy. On Feb. 22, 1941, Bob Timmel married his loving wife, Rita (Stahl) Timmel, who predeceased him in 2002 after 61 years of marriage. In 1947, Mr. Timmel established his own advertising specialties business, which he continued to successfully operate until the day he entered the hospital. Timmel's friendly personality, nowlege of advertising and sincere desire to satisfy the needs of his customers gained him thousands of loyal clients, some for as many as 60 years. Bob Timmel was one of a kind: Self-reliant, hardworking and always optimistic. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend to many.
He is survived by his loving children, Alice (Tony) O'Reilly of Martinsville, NJ, Robert Timmel of Washington, DC, John (Joanne) Timmel of Bedford, NY and William (Caryl) Timmel of Sandy Hook, CT, together with nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by Martin A. Gleason Funeral Home 10-25 150th Street, Whitestone. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Bob on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008 at St. Luke's RC Church on Clintonville Street in Whitestone. Interment was held at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury.
Richard Markiewicz, RA, A.I.A died peacefully on Oct. 17, 2008. Beloved and much loved husband of Esther; loving father of Michael, Maureen and Margaret; treasured grandfather of Kristi, Karina and Andrew. Richard Markiewicz will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. Viewing was held at the Fairchild Funeral Chapel, 1570 Northern Blvd., Manhasset, on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008. The funeral Mass was held at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 1300 Northern Blvd., Manhasset on Monday, Oct. 20. Interment followed at Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury. Walter J. France of Manhasset, suddenly on Oct. 11, 2008 in his 69th Year.
He was the beloved husband of Dorothy, loving father of Mary and David Rutter, Ann and Michael Lynch, Catherine and Robert Fischetti, Christine France Miller and Elizabeth France. Devoted grandfather of Patrick, Kevin, Courteney, Catherine, Michael, Sarah, Catherine, Jack, Sean, Annie, Matthew, Mary, Thomas, John, Dorothy, Henry, Hazel and Tessa. He was also the cherished brother of Elizabeth Kisielewski. He will be deeply missed.
Mr. France was in repose at the Fairchild Funeral Chapel, 1570 Northern Blvd., Manhasset on Oct. 13 and 14. The funeral Mass was Oct. 15 at St. Mary's R.C. Church, Manhasset.
