On Tuesday, Sept. 16, the MHS Girls Swim Team began their dual meet season by defeating a strong Jericho team 103-80. The Indians followed up this performance by winning meets against division rival Syosset 96-82 and conference rival Farmingdale 97-84.
Highlights from these competitions include many personal best times.
Senior captain Meghan Shea posted personal best times of 26.21 in the 50yd Free and 57.50 in the 100yd Free.
Junior Elizabeth Henry swam a 2:28.15 in the 200yd IM. Melissa Brown swam a 27.72 in the 50yd Free. Stephanie Chin swam a 35.39 in the 50yd Breaststroke and a 1:19.44 in the 100yd Breaststroke.
Sophomore Alexa Aliprantis swam a 32.14 in the 50yd Backstroke, 2:31.94 in the 200yd IM, 1:10.77 in the 100yd Fly and 1:11.61 in the 100yd Backstroke. Ali Margherio swam a 36.31 in the 50yd Breaststroke and a 1:17.51 in the 100yd Breaststroke. Jackie Palma swam a 2:19.18 in the 200yd Free and a 2:42.33 in the 200yd IM. Kristen Shibley swam a 31.64 in the 50yd Free and a 1:31.72 in the 100yd Breaststroke. Mary Kate Amato swam a 2:17.50 in the 200yd Free, 6:14.08 in the 500yd Free and a 1:14.24 in the 100yd Backstroke. Katie Usher scored 143.63 points in 1 meter diving.
Freshmen Olivia Henry swam a 5:53.59 in the 500yd Free and a 2:11.30 in the 200yd Free. Kayla Young swam a 29.8 in the 50yd Fly, 2:38.85 in the 200yd IM, a 1:10.80 in the 100yd Fly and a 6:06.35 in the 500 yd Free. Tori Wang swam a 2:47.63 in the 200yd IM, a 1:13.32 in the 100yd Fly and a 1:19.42 in the 100yd Backstroke. Kelsey Brown swam a 32.61 in the 50yd Backstroke and a 1:08.98 in the 100yd Backstroke. Erica Demitroff swam a 30.85 in the 50yd Fly, a 1:13.66 in the 100yd Fly and a 1:19.13 in the 100yd Backstroke. Susannah Roberts swam a 28.37 in the 50yd Free. Alexa Fradella swam a 36.3 in the 50yd Breaststroke and a 1:21.76 in the 100yd Breaststroke. Amanda Morici swam a 34.30 in the 50 yd Fly. Ming Siegel swam a 1:27.92 in the 100yd Backstroke. Ally O'Neill scored 104.25 points in 1 m diving. Catherine Blando swam a 33.7 in the 50yd Fly and a 1:08.8 in the 100yd Free. Alexandra Andromidas swam a 34.3 in the 50yd Free. Katherine Andromidas swam a 1:23.16 in the 100yd Free.
Seventh-grader Jenny Cook scored 135.60 points in 1 m diving. Sarah Henry swam a 6:25.93 in the 500yd Free.
