Congratulations to the first grade boy's soccer team, Manhasset AC Milan, for an outstanding inaugural season. In addition to their intramural season, the boys entered into various local events. On the indoor turf they finished third in the RoughRiders winter league, third in the Rudy LaMonica Tournament in Oceanside, and went undefeated to place second in East Meadow's World Cup Tournament. They laced their boots up from the grass to place fourth in the Plainedge Father's Day Tournament and win the RVC Serota Tournament - a special day in which the team not only went undefeated, but in keeping with the theme of developing first and winning second, all 10 players scored at least one goal. Special mention to: Timmy Kiggins - team's leading goal scorer; Louis Perfetto - team leader, assists; Steven Theodoropolous - team leader, defensive stops; Jack Cherry and Duncan Barcelona - Most Valuable Goalkeepers, RoughRiders league; Nico Miradoli - Best Offensive Player, East Meadow tournament. Still, the success of the team was in ball control and team defense of all its members: JP Aliprantis, Chris Alcaraz, Matteo Bonati, Alex Glick, Nick Newton, Patrick Reilly, Stelio Katepolis, Joseph Mulholland, Kelly Quinn, Ryan Scarpa, Theo Tiliakos, and Langdon Woo.

Special thanks to the parents from Munsey Park and Shelter Rock, (who brought this group of players together), the Manhasset Soccer Club, and its Division Director, Mark Lotruglio. Also thanks to the coaches, Jason Miradoli and Louis Perfetto. The first-graders faced many teams who practiced throughout the winter, rostered second-graders, and those who had played together for a year. While the boys had none of these advantages, they used the pitch as their training ground, let the game itself teach them, and somehow managed to look as if they'd worked together before. Most importantly, word of the team spread across Manhasset's first-grade classrooms, and the initial roster of eight grew to a rotation of 18 for the last two events.
