The Great Neck Figure Skating Club was found over 50 years ago and recently celebrated the end of the season with its annual skating recital. The club's professional staff is composed of coaches with international competitive experience. Skaters practice and perform at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink at Parkwoods Sports Complex in Great Neck.
Over 60 local skaters, ranging in ages from 5 to 70 years plus, took to the ice Wednesday, May 28. There were solo skaters, pairs, and the Great Neck synchronized team. Manhasset's own Elizabeth Arenare, Carina Goebelbecker, Jenny MacGown, Jenna Politoski and Gabriella Scaramucci performed individual routines showcasing many years of practice. Highlighting the evening was hometown girl, Olympian Emily Hughes with her hip-hop rendition of Low. The audience was thrilled to have the opportunity to enjoy her special performance.
