For the first time ever a group of Manhasset soccer players has won the prestigious Commack tournament which is held over Memorial Day weekend and attracts 700 teams from all over Long Island, New York City and New Jersey. Not only did they win the tournament, but how they did it was very impressive. Coached by popular trainer, Mike Butler of Five Star Soccer Academy, who coaches a number of Manhasset teams, the second grade girls played at the highest standard in Division 1 and won convincingly all five of their games, scoring 21 goals and conceding just 4. Six of the 10 players scored goals and the team beat such excellent soccer clubs as Albertson (4-0), New Hyde Park (5-1) and Dix Hills (2-0). As a result of their win, the girls are now ranked in the top four clubs in their age group (U8) on Long Island.
