Bill Cherry (Manhasset) and Steve Finnell (Garden City) are teaming up to coach the Long Island Regional Lacrosse team this summer. The team will play in the Adidas National Lacrosse Classic in Baltimore on July 20. The event, sponsored by Adidas and Level 2 Sports will feature over 500 players from all over the United States. The winner will play the Canadian National Team in the fall. The tournament is open to all players entering 10th through 12th grade (fall 2008). The tryout will be held June 21 at Manhasset High School from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. To apply for the team players must do so online at adidasnationallacrosseclassic.com.

This is not the first time Bill and Steve will work together. They are directors of a youth lacrosse camp called Long Island Sound Lacrosse Camp (formerly Lacrosse LI), a camp for boys and girls grades 1-8 at Denton Avenue, New Hyde Park, under the lights. Further information can be found at lisoundlacrosse.com. The camp features Keith Cromwell, as assistant at Manhasset, a member of the Long Island Lizards, as well as the Minnesota Swarm of the indoor league. The camp also staffs former and future stars from Manhasset and Garden City, along with other big names from the game.

The Woodstick Classic is being held this year at Garden City High School on April 26 at 3 p.m. It is sure to be another great game and display of talent.
