Geraldine J. Baker

Geraldine J. Baker passed away on Wednesday April 2, 2008 after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

As a home economics teacher and department chairperson in the Herricks, NY and the Livingston, NJ school systems, she was admired by both her colleagues and students for nearly a decade.

Upon moving to Manhasset 28 years ago, Gerri became a tremendous asset to the community through her selfless volunteering at Munsey Park Elementary School, The Manhasset SCA, Manhasset High School and Manhasset Bay Yacht Club.

Her smiling face, creativity and innate design expertise were welcomed resources while working at The Enchanted Cottage in Manhasset and Details in Port Washington.

Gerri Baker loved racing her sailboat with her husband and dear friends of the Manhasset Bay One Design Fleet. Every spring and summer she brought joy to all who passed by her beautiful gardens.

She was a devoted mother, wife and daughter and is survived by her husband, Ned; daughters, Susan and Laura Anne; and mother, Susan Walker of Glen Cove. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
