The A's won the second and third-grade girls softball championship by a score of 11-3 over the Cardinals. The game was a lot closer than the score indicated as the scrappy Cardinals, coached by Kurt Keiss and made up of mostly second-graders, came up to bat in the top of the fourth inning down by the score of 7-3 with the bases loaded and one out.

Rebecca Kingsley sent a long fly ball to right center field for a sure game tying grand slam home run, but Dana McCarney tracked the ball and made "the catch" in the outfield and threw to first base for an inning ending double play. The "A's" added four more runs in the bottom half of the inning with Katherine Markham and Gabriella DeCastro adding home runs to account for the scoring. Lauren "The Ace" Merolla pitched a perfect fifth inning for the victory. Good hitting by Kathryn Shanley, Sylvanna Schiefle, Lauren Moschitta, Katie Hannon and Caroline Rose Kenlon led the attack while Ally Steck, Collette Murray and Stephanie Palma provided the solid defense needed to win. Injured Julia Henry provided the heads up base running and speed as the pinch runner. Congratulations to all the girls on a great season!
