Congratulations to the Manhasset Middle School hockey team, which made the league playoffs for the second straight season. After another fine season under Coach Kevin Smith, the team will start their playoff drive on Monday, March 24. The team compiled 17 points to date, and this past week clinched sixth place in the division and the final spot in the league playoffs. The varsity team members are Ryan and Adam Montgomery, Buddy McGrath, Michael Richter, Chris Wilshere, Travis Yablon, Cory Sigadel, Greg Goldman, Nathan Berger, Matt Stewart, Harris Stone, Ron Fishman, Cory Newman, Ricky Yegelwel, Michael Ciambra, Evan Kundrat, Noah Todaro, Corey Grant, Andrew Garbus, Chris Brzozowski, Svietavit Sokalaw, Kyle Essex, and Gunnar Esiason.
The teams play in the High School Hockey League of Nassau County. A special note of thanks to those who do all the legwork to make the season possible, including Karen Blando, Lee Garbus, Neil Begley, John Hannon, Dave Sigadel, John Kundrat, and Gregg Montgomery.
