Larry Tillotson, 91, still takes a lap around the skating rink. On Feb. 27 he was cutting an elegant figure eight at Christopher Morley Park in top hat and tails. Tillotson is a revered member of the 20-year-old group, "Frisky Prunes," who annually schlep buffet fare to the rink, dress up, then work up an appetite on the ice.
This year was no exception and skaters from many towns including New Hyde Park, Glen Cove, Floral Park, Roslyn, Glen Head, Lloyd Harbor, Oyster Bay, Wantagh and as far away as Montauk got lucky with the weather and met at the rink celebrating two decades of friendship, a cherished tradition and the scrappy athleticism that got them their name.
