Elections in most Manhasset villages will take place on Tuesday, March 18, from noon to 9 p.m. The last day to file independent nominating petitions for an office was Feb. 13, or 35 days prior to the village election. Most elections are uncontested with the exception of Flower Hill where two individuals are running for village justice and Plandome Manor where four individuals are running for two open trustee positions.
In Flower Hill Mayor Charles Weiss is running for re-election for a 2-year term. Incumbent Trustees William Clemency, Anthony DiSanto and Norman Glavas are each running unopposed for 2-year terms. Village Justice J. Bruce Byrne is running for re-election for a four-year term against challenger Scott Siller. The election will take place at the newly renovated Flower Hill Village Hall, 1 Bonnie Heights Road.
In Munsey Park incumbent Trustees Peter Puttre and Elaine R. Phillips are running unopposed for two-year terms. The election will take place at the Munsey Park Village Hall, 1777 Northern Boulevard.
In Plandome incumbent trustees Peter Kenny and Ray Herbert are running unopposed for two-year terms. The election will take place at the Plandome Village Hall, 65 South Drive.
In Plandome Heights Diana Merenda is running unopposed for a 2-year term as mayor. Incumbent trustees Silva Ferman, Alvin Solomon and Kenneth Riscica are running for re-election each for two terms. All are members of the Alliance Party. The election will take place at the Plandome Village Hall, 65 South Drive, Plandome.
In Plandome Manor two trustees have decided not to run for re-election, Jean Kukowski and John Auletto. Thus two open two-year trustee positions are being sought by four individuals: Richard Rupp, Resident's Party; Mary Lou DiIorio, Unity Party; Tony DeSousa, Unity Party; and Vahan Tanal, People's Party. The election will take place at the Village Hall which is located in the Science Museum of Long Island, 1526 Plandome Road.
The Village of North Hills held its elections in June and all were uncontested. Mayor Marvin Natiss was re-elected to a two-year term as were trustees Dennis Sgambati and Marvin C. Rothenberg. Village Justice Sigmund S. Semon was re-elected to a 4-year term.
