The Church of St. Mary's boys eighth- grade basketball team coached by Dave Brooks and John Kiggins hit the road over Martin Luther King Day weekend for a game against Holy Name Church in Springfield, MA. The event originally started by Dan Thomas has been a 4-year tradition. This years' event was organized and cruise directed by Joe Pollicino. Joe coordinated with Holy Name CYO Director Mike Borecki for a fun filled weekend for the team that included a trip to the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MA where the boys played on the main court and viewed the exhibits in the new and improved Hall and then took in the UMass vs. UNC Charlotte game at the Mullins Center in Amherst. Since it was Spalding Hoop Hall Weekend, the boys also got to hang around with some of the top high school basketball teams and players in the country. After that it was eat, swim and more eating and then a match up against the Holy Name elite team. Coming up on the short end of a 52-28 score did not dampen the fun had over the weekend by all involved.
