We want to thank you for the overwhelming support demonstrated by this community following the sudden death of my husband, Ned Peyser. The continuing outpouring of kindness and prayers is truly remarkable and helped make the celebration of Ned's life something that our family will never forget.
Ned slipped from the roof while cleaning gutters on Oct. 5, 2007. The manner of his death truly reveals his practical and generous approach to life. Anything he could take care of himself, he would do, concentrating on the love he had for his family, friends, occupation and Plandome Fire Department. Words cannot express how invaluable the department was to Ned, as well as to his family. Although you hear the term "brotherhood" when discussing certain organizations, you cannot fully comprehend its meaning until you experience it. The immeasurable support it provides takes your breath away.
I am compelled to mention the Manhasset School District. Not having any children in the district currently, I was awestruck by the thoughtfulness of the administrators, teachers and coaches who came to support our family. The fact that the Manhasset football and field hockey teams came to show their respect reflects the unusually cohesive and compassionate nature of this community.
Thank you does not seem enough, but please know that Ned, Chris, Lauren and I will be forever grateful. You have helped guide us to a path in life that we anticipate with much hope.
Diane, Christopher and Lauren Peyser
