(Editors note: This letter was sent to the Town of North Hempstead and to the Manhasset Press for publication.)
I would like to know who decided to close the Radio Control Aerodrome in Port Washington? This field has been successfully operated for over 20 years and managed by an active group of residents who have taken care of the property and supervised its safe and unique use.
Who, suddenly and without notice, decided that this park should be closed?
I have been a resident of North Hempstead for well over 50 years. My wife has also been a resident here for her entire life. I've raised my children here. I plan on retiring here. I've been a Field Controller at the Aerodrome for 14 years. This is how I relax. This is what I do in my limited spare time. This is where I spend my money. This is what I think about when I'm not working, sleeping, or spending time with my family.
I would like to know who has such little regard for me and the others who use the Aerodrome that he or she would inform us of its closure simply by changing the lock.
If I sound angry and offended, then my message is clear. Please respond at once.
