The Tower Foundation of Manhasset is excited to announce its 2007/08 initiative. Thanks to all donors over the last two years Tower has installed more than $400,000 worth of technology equipment in the secondary school including a new Foreign Language Learning Center, state-of-the-art music and art labs as well as new laboratory equipment for the science department.

This coming fiscal year Tower will devote its entire fundraising efforts to providing and installing Interactive Whiteboards in the secondary school and both elementary schools. Interactive Whiteboards, sometimes referred to as SMARTboards, use specialized computer software to project images from a computer screen onto a large, touch sensitive whiteboard. The computer is manipulated via the whiteboard using a finger, a pen or other specialized devices. This type of technology has now become the recognized standard in a majority of public and private schools throughout the country. There will be opportunities for the community to view a Whiteboard in action, we will announce these dates throughout the year.

The scope of this project is the largest Tower has ever embarked upon in terms of the quantity of units to be purchased, the number of classrooms that will be affected and, in turn, the amount of students that will benefit from this technology.

Tower has proven that, together with community support, they can get things done and make a difference in the way children learn. Their goal is to create a 21st century learning environment so that students have the knowledge they need to compete and succeed.

Their success is due directly to their donor's generosity. Their donors value, as they do, the quality of education provided to the children. In order for them to continue to succeed they need your help. Last year Tower received donations from 409 alumni and community members; there are over 1,900 families whose children attend the public schools. Their hope is that more of the community will realize the importance of Tower's role to Manhasset's public education system and will choose to participate in making a direct impact.

Please visit the website for additional information on Tower and their new initiatives, www.towerfoundation.com. You can also make a tax-deductible donation through the site as well. They look forward to another successful year.
