Senator Johnson Appointed to Head Suburban Caucus
Property Tax Increases to Be Caucus' Top Priority --
Senator Craig M. Johnson, (D-Port Washington), announced that he will be one of two co-chairs for the Senate Democratic Conference's newly formed Suburban Caucus. The new caucus will be a vehicle for the Senate Democrats to take the lead in finding new solutions for long-standing suburban-based problems. Breaking New York's never-ending cycle of property tax increases will be the caucus' top priority, Johnson said.

2007 Memorial Day Parade Embraced Manhasset's Sgt. James Regan Who This Year Gave His Life for His Country in Iraq --
The Memorial Day Parade, sponsored by American Legion Post 304, was held on Monday, May 28, under cloudy and somewhat humid conditions, but that did not deter the crowds that jostled for position in record numbers. The day honors veterans from all wars (The Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam and now, Iraq) who died so that we may enjoy our freedom.

Manhasset's Barnes Named to HIP Grand Slam Baseball Roster
June 9 Game to Feature Nassau vs. Suffolk Baseball All-Stars --
Daniel Barnes, a pitcher/first baseman for Manhasset High School, has been named to the Nassau County roster for the third annual HIP Grand Slam Challenge high school baseball all-star game. Barnes, a four-year varsity player, is also All County and League MVP. The game will be held at Citibank Park, 3 Court House Drive, Central Islip, on Saturday, June 9, at 7 p.m.

Manhasset Track Teams Host 18th Annual Booster Club Gold Coast Relays
On May 17 (Thursday) the Manhasset Boys and Girls Teams hosted the 18th Annual Booster Club - Gold Coast Relays on the home track. The large Invitational Track Meet is held annually with 10 to 15 local teams. Individual event winners get T-shirts and a first-place trophy. The top three relay teams in each event win gold, silver or bronze medals. This year about 600 athletes from 11 teams competed. The teams were Roslyn, Port Washington, Manhasset, Great Neck North, Great Neck South, Clarke, Wheatley, Glen Cove, Herricks, Sacred Heart, Jericho, Carle Place and East Meadow.
