The Manhasset Art Association would like to respond to last week's letter by Sheila Thompson of the Manhasset Community Club's Art Department.
We, too, have been told that the library is not ready to hang exhibits, and it was explained to us at a recent open board meeting that there are still some issues that have to be worked out, and that there are more important priorities. This news disappointed us, since Manhasset art groups have been exhibiting for many years at the library. We were told the board is working on it, and as we don't have a spring venue yet, we hope it will be soon. Even a small exhibit would be acceptable.
We know that the community has an appreciation for art, and local artists' work would certainly add color and interest to the empty walls of the community room, general library, and glass display cases.
Please support us in obtaining this handsome, new exhibit space by communicating your feelings to the library director.
Maybe we can all make a difference!
