Bob Moulton, president of Americana Mortgage Group, and his family will host the fifth Americana Mortgage Group Golf Tournament benefit on Monday, April 30 at North Hempstead Country Club, Port Washington. The event also marks the launch of the family's new foundation, the Kelly Marie Moulton Foundation Inc. "My wife, Debbie, and I, and our children RJ, Danny and Kelly, are very excited about the prospect of broadening our spirit of philanthropy to help, and perhaps save, even more children's lives," said Moulton.
The family foundation will receive its initial major funding through this year's family golf benefit event, the Americana Mortgage Group Golf Tournament. The first Kelly Marie Moulton Foundation grants will be distributed this year among Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro NY, the Cardiac Transplant Program of Columbia Presbyterian, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Sister Pat's Kids Camp.
Since 2002, the golf outing has raised close to a quarter million dollars, the proceeds of which were directed to Make-A-Wish-one of the many organizations that helped the Moulton's through a decade of their daughter's severe health challenges. "We were also touched deeply by so many other charities and life-saving programs, and we'd like to acknowledge their contributions as well," said Moulton.
It was with this goal in mind that they formed the Kelly Marie Moulton Foundation. Named for their daughter Kelly, now 17, the Foundation's purpose is to support those that champion children with life-threatening illness-and their families-through pediatric cancer research and treatment, organ transplantation, wish granting, medically-supervised recreation and psychological support programs.
