In response to last week's letter entitled, A Solution to Munsey Park Elementary School Overcrowding, The Tower Foundation of Manhasset would like to correct any misconception regarding its purpose. The foundation is a nonprofit, volunteer-supported education fund established to recognize and promote educational excellence in the Manhasset Public Schools.

Tower exists to support the quality of education and academic achievement in our public schools by funding curriculum initiatives that are beyond the scope of the district's budget such as the new Foreign Language Learning Center. Tower does not exist to support the ongoing operating expenses of the school district, the magnitude of which is well beyond our means, nor, for the same reason, could Tower subsidize the voluntary election of a private school education.

Enhancing the educational opportunities for the children of the Manhasset School District is our goal and we thank the community for supporting our efforts.
