Shelter Rock Church Is on a Mission
This past summer, during the week of July 3 through July 10, 67 students and adults from Shelter Rock Church visited the city of La Vega in the Dominican Republic to participate in four days of community service. Their work included helping to put a new roof over a local church and also building additional classrooms for a local community center.

Manhasset's Own Election Day Shake-Up
Following the national elections of Nov. 7 the Manhasset Press received complaints from residents that their long established polling places had been changed causing much confusion. Some residents accustomed to voting at Munsey Park Elementary School were turned away, sent instead to Strathmore Vanderbilt Country Club or town hall while others at the elementary school voted as usual. Some residents accustomed to voting at town hall were rescheduled to vote at the firehouse on Bayview Avenue to make room for those additional voters from Munsey Park now voting at town hall.

Manhasset 12 Year Old Travel Baseball - A Year in Review
In February 2006, a group of parents met to discuss the idea of playing spring travel baseball for their 12-year-old sons at an advanced level of play. The level was 75-foot bases, 51-foot pitching mound, stealing and a higher level of competition. Most other areas on Long Island had already initiated travel in their spring baseball programs, some at earlier ages. The travel program, although not affiliated with the Manhasset PAL, would be done in tandem with the spring PAL league. There were some sacrifices that had to be overcome, but after considering the overall benefits to the kids, the 12-year-old travel baseball team was born.

Record Setting Day for Swim Team
On Thursday, Nov. 9, the Manhasset Girls Varsity Swim Team competed in the section eight state-qualifying meet at the Goodwill Games Aquatic Center.
