CSM Second Annual Safety Day
Gale force winds on Sunday, Oct. 29 did not discourage CSM from hosting another successful Safety Day. This annual event serves to educate residents and raise awareness of the need for better pedestrian safety in Manhasset. Having reverted to the scheduled rain date, attendance was not as high as had been hoped but the enthusiasm was nonetheless very high from those guests and volunteers who braved the wind and cold temperatures to support CSM.

Until Jan. 1, 2004, the Town of North Hempstead elected its four council members at large, i.e. each member represented the population of the entire town. Since 2004, they have been elected from separate districts. How is this new system working? How could it be improved?

Two Fifth Grade CYO Teams Support Hurricane Katrina Victims
The fifth grade girls CYO teams coached by PJ Barry and Bob Hart have decided that their efforts this season will not be concentrated on just the basketball court. Coaches Barry and Hart talked with the girls and decided to raise money throughout the season and donate the money to the Hurricane

Manhasset Middle School Hockey Team On the Rise
This past Sunday in only their seventh game of the season the Manhasset Middle School Hockey Team posted their third win of the season, nearly equaling their win total for all of their inaugural season last year. Their coach, Kevin Smith, noted how the teams' growth is attributable to the development and maturity of the team's seventh- and eighth-graders and the valuable contributions of a talented group of sixth-graders, who joined the squad this year. Said Coach Smith, "We're certainly looking forward to sustaining our effort throughout the season."
