On Wednesday, Sept. 27, the MHS girls swim team defeated conference rival Bellmore Merrick 56-44 and Cold Spring Harbor 62-38 to improve to 4-0. Previous victories were against Lynbrook 91-67 and Plainview 53-40.
Many personal bests were posted in these meets. Senior Dana Matesich swam a 26.48 in the 50 yd free and 1:00.52 in the 100 yd free. Johanna LoVecchio swam a 30.3 in the 50 yd butterfly. Chrissie Gotimer swam a 1:06.99 in the 100 yd Backstroke. Michele Lawrence swam a 2:33.15 in the 200 yd free.
Junior Whitney Quackenbush swam a 1:08.18 in the 100 yd backstroke. Samantha Reiss swam a 2:33.08 in the 200 yd IM and a 1:12.58 in the 100 yd butterfly. Jaclyn Carey swam 1:08 100 yd freestyle. Lindsay Honoroff swam a 31.38 in the 50 yd freestyle and 1:12.92 in the 100 yd freestyle.
Sophomore Meghan Shea swam a 2:37.08 in the 200 yd IM and a 2:12.37 in the 200 yd freestyle. Allison Haspel swam a 35.5 in the 50 yd breastroke. Audrey Chang swam a 2:26.24 in the 200 yd freestyle, 1:02.86 in the 100 yd freestyle and 29.36 in the 50 yd freestyle. Freshmen Elizabeth Henry swam a 57.80 in the 100 yd freestyle and a 1:11.32 in the 100 yd backstroke. Melissa Brown swam a 2:30.12 in the 100 yd freestyle and 1:18.18 in the 100 yd backstroke. Stephanie Chin swam a 2:48.96 in the 200 yd IM, 1:20.27 in the 100 yd butterfly and 1:25.60 in the 100 yd breaststroke.
Eighth grader Alexa Aliprantis swam a 2:23.15 in the 200 yd free and 2:41.36 in the 200 yd IM. Seventh grader Olivia Henry swam a 6:13.72 in the 500 yd freestyle and 1:16.94 in the 100 yd backstroke.
