The MHS Girls Swim Team starts the 2006 season with the goal of capturing a fourth consecutive division championship. The Indians finished in record setting fashion last year missing the overall county runner-up position by two points (second consecutive third place county finish). As well as the team did last year the expectations are even higher this year. Manhasset expects to challenge both Long Beach and Garden City this year for the top spot in all of Nassau County.
Leading the way is an experienced and deep group of returning county and state swimmers with a mix of some talented underclasswomen.
Returning seniors are Chrissy Brodt (All-Long Island), Chrissie Gotimer (All-Long Island), Johanna LoVecchio (All-County), Dana Matesich (All-County), Stephanie Perez (County Qualifier) and Michele Lawrence.
The junior class consists of Whitney Quackenbush (All-Long Island), Samantha Reiss (All-County), Jaclyn Carey (County Finalist), Corinne Riggin (County Qualifier), Kristin Conte and Lindsay Honoroff.
The sophomores are Meghan Shea (All-County), Allison Haspel (County Finalist), Audrey Chang (County Qualifier) and Youri Chan.
The freshmen class consists of returning swimmer Elizabeth Henry (All-County) and newcomers Melissa Brown and Stephanie Chan.
Rounding out the varsity squad are eighth grader Alexa Aliprantis and seventh grader Olivia Henry.
