The board of education of the Manhasset Union Free School District is seeking interested Manhasset residents to serve on the following:
The Audit Committee was established to ensure the district's fiscal accountability by providing independent assistance and advice to the board in the oversight of both the internal and external audit functions. We are seeking people who possess experience in accounting, auditing, financial reporting or school district finances, and who will be able to understand and evaluate the district's financial statements, the external audit of those statements, and the district's internal audit activities. CPA's are preferred. At a minimum, the committee will meet six (6) times each year.
The committee is comprised of five members, up to two of which may be board members. Audit Committee members are generally appointed for a term of three years, although initial appointments may vary from one to three years. Members will serve without compensation.
MAAC serves as a liaison between the community and the board regarding the district's secondary school interscholastic athletic program, primarily to advise the athletic director and the board regarding policies and practices which affect or impact the interscholastic program. Members participate in standing sub-committees focused on: budget; indoor facilities; outdoor facilities; athletic department personnel; and communications. Meetings are held monthly during the school year.
The committee includes 15 community members. MAAC members are appointed for a term of up to three years. Members who have served a term may apply to serve for an additional term.
CACF serves as a liaison between the community and the board regarding the district's annual operating budget. Through effective communication, the committee endeavors to develop public understanding that will provide responsive community feedback, as well as provide a reflection of community interest about the district's proposed budget. Meetings are held at least monthly during the period January through May.
The committee includes 12 community members representing a cross-section of residents with varying interests and experience with the District. CACF members are appointed for a term of up to three years. Members who have served a term may apply to serve for an additional term.
