The Manhasset Mighty U-11 (5th grade) girls soccer team lived up to its name, and then some, at the East Meadow Ref-Fuel Tournament Aug. 26 through 28. The Mighty, coached by Jorge Garcia, Scott Arenare and Jerome Blocker, played three awesome games beating Levittown (1-0), New Hyde Park (4-0) and Garden City Park (2-1) to take first place in the Girls U11 White division of the tournament. Although some of these girls had not played together before, each and every one contributed to the Mighty's success over the course of the tournament. Consistent pressure was provided by Natalie Stefan, Emily Koufakis, Abby Kucharczyk, Cara DePippo, Elizabeth Arenare and Angela Shapiro. Strong defensive effort throughout all three games came from Jade Blocker, Riley Garcia, Alice Donnelly, Yvette Signore, Paulina Parsons and Caitlin Gleason. The team's defensive effort was backed up by incredibly strong goaltending by Meredith Wilshere.

Congratulations to the Manhasset Mighty on a job well done. All look forward to the season ahead.
