Pearl Treiber was born Leopoldina Anna Maria Englisch on Sept. 28, 1918 in Vienna, Austria. At the age of 9 years, she and her parents arrived in New York, where she attended school and later worked as a hairdresser.
Pearl and George married in 1940 and moved to Manhasset in 1955, where Pearl was an active participant in Manhasset life. She was particularly involved in Manhasset schools while their three children, Anita, George and Terry attended them. Later activities were devoted to Church of Our Savior Lutheran, the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center and the Board of Elections. There were also many afternoons of bridge and weekends sailing and celebrating with George at Port Washington Yacht Club.
In 2004, Pearl and George followed their dreams to Peconic Landing in Greenport. Many happy times included a family celebration of their 65 years of marriage and George's 90th birthday.
Pearl suffered a stroke and joined George on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2006.A private family service was held in Southhold for her cremation, followed by a memorial service on Saturday, May 6, at Church of our Savior Lutheran in Manhasset. She was laid to rest alongside her beloved George in Woodlawn Cemetery. Pearl is survived by Anita Himsworth and her husband Winston, of Plandome, by George C. Treiber and his wife Nina, of Portsmouth, VA and by Terry Jenkins and her husband Bob, of Devon, PA. She will also be remembered by her grandchildren: Brett Himsworth and wife, Julie, Caryn Himsworth, Drew Himsworth, Jim Jenkins and wife Beverly, Shawn Jenkins and Adam Jenkins. She smiles down upon her two great-grandsons, Owen Himsworth and Daniel Jenkins.
