The 9/10-year-old division of the Manhasset Girls Softball won their district tournament with an impressive 11-0 victory over Albertson. The girls played a great game all around with strong defense and a team batting average of .461. The offensive was led by strong performances from Katie Giesecke, Emily Markham, Elise Simon and Kelsey Quackenbush (All had multiple hits). Also contributing on offense were Megan Heaney and Alexa Giorgetti. Ariana LaRocca pitched five innings of shut-out ball for the win (3 hits, 3 walks). Playing solid defense and displaying great base running skills were Ally Hart, Sarah Gunzberg, Emory Parker and Haley Crosson.

The girls won the first game of the tournament with a 12 - 4 victory over Albertson. Elise Simon pitched a great game holding Albertson to four hits over six innings. Leading the offense was Megan Heaney, Emily Markham, Katie Geisecke, Alexa Giorgetti, Elise Simon and Ally Hart. The team also had a strong defensive performance by infielders Rosemarie Alcamo (3B), Ariana LaRocca (SS), Megan Heaney (2B), Katie Geiseicke (1B) and Emily Markham (C). Playing a flawless outfield in game one was Sarah Gunzburg, Alex Giorgetti, Kelsey Quackenbush, Ally Hart and Haley Crosson.

Unfortunately the girls lost in the sectionals to a very good Franklin Square team 10-2. The girls worked hard on all aspects of the game with 16 practices over a month and a half. All of their skills improved dramatically across the board. Their coaches are very proud of them for playing as a team and always giving their best effort and look forward to working with the girls again in next year 's Williamsport tournament.
