As many of you know we have been sending Girl Scout cookies and Cub Scout popcorn to our soldiers serving in Iraq. The soldiers are so very grateful. While they eat many of the treats we send, they also share them with the locals. The soldiers have been moved by the number of children who come running up to them in their bare feet and as a result have made a request. They have asked us if we could collect new and clean/gently used children's shoes that they can distribute to the Iraqi children. So, we are asking for your help!

We are blessed in many ways. Most of our children have more than enough pairs of shoes so that they wear them once or twice and then they outgrow them. If you can help in any way it would be greatly appreciated. Please tie each pair of shoes together by the laces/with ribbon/string/rubber band, etc. to ensure the pair stays together. DHL is generously donating the shipping.

Please drop off your clean/gently used or new shoes at the American Legion Hall, 27 Bayview Avenue on Saturday, June 24 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. If you have any questions, please contact us. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
