John Francis Noonan, 1945-2006, passed on May 17, 2006. He leaves behind his parents, John Noonan and Jayne Noonan, his brother, Thomas Noonan and sister, Jayne Noonan Donaghue; three children Kathryn W. Glaser, Heather Noonan Spillane, Michael Noonan and two grandchildren Victoria Glaser and Winfred Glaser. John was a graduate of St. Mary's Boys High School, from there he went on to attend Fordham University, majoring in philosophy, pursuing further wisdom, he went to Duke University, John brought his analytical abilities to Wall Street; over his career he worked for a variety of firms from First Boston to the World Bank. His last position was in Cairo, Egypt working with the Ministry of Finance for Egypt as a financial consultant for the American division of the World Bank called USAID.

John's talent and pursuit of knowledge, philosophical and historical, made him a great teacher and international communicator. In the 1990s he was working with the Portuguese government to donate a statue of Queen Catherine, whom the County of Queens is named after. His intention was to share the history of Queens with her present inhabitants. His wit, knowledge and insight will be missed.

John was cremated in Manhasset on May 17.

A service will be held on June 16 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Church.

A reception will follow at the Plandome Country Club.
