Childhood obesity has become all too commonplace, as have budget cuts prompting local schools to eliminate athletic programs. In an effort to combat these trends, the Nike Corporation is teaming up with The Athlete's Foot at Americana Manhasset to help motivate the local public and raise funds through the Nike Power Women's fitness program.
On the morning of Thursday, June 1 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., the ultra-chic shopping center will host a fitness event "to inspire your mind, body and spirit." Motivational fitness speaker Debbie Antar, LMSW, will begin the program by addressing the topic of women's fitness. Immediately following, models will don the latest in sports apparel for a Nike Fitness Fashion Show. Ary Nunez (with her Gotham All Star Fitness Team in tow) will then lead guests on a power walk and workout and all will have an opportunity to meet one-on-one with holistic health expert Cynthia Cook.
With this event, The Athlete's Foot hopes to launch broader discussions on living healthy at all ages. In addition, it will raise funds for local athletic programs by donating 15 percent of designated sales throughout the day to the Roslyn Bulldog Booster Association, the Manhasset Booster Club and the Athletic Association of Port Washington. The Nike Power Fitness event is complimentary and open to the public. To reserve space, please call: 627.7400.
