St. Mary's Elementary Expands Interscholastic Sports
This spring, St. Mary's Elementary School expanded its interscholastic sports program to include boys and girls lacrosse, boys baseball and girls softball teams. Sixth, seventh and eighth graders participate on the teams that compete in the L.I.A.A.I.S. league which includes such schools as Green Vale School, Long Island Lutheran, Waldorf, Buckley and East Woods. The small size of the teams allows for plenty of playing time and work on individual skills. All of the teams have a winning record thus far, but more importantly the students are excited to represent their school on the playing field. These sports are a wonderful addition to an already busy fall and winter season that has boys and girls teams competing in a very challenging Catholic middle school league in both volleyball and basketball.
