Manhasset School District Citizen's Advisory Committee for Finance Annual Budget Message
The Citizen's Advisory Committee for Finance supports the proposed Manhasset School District Budget of $72,449,014 for the year 2006-2007. The budget represents a 6.9 percent increase over the prior year. A contingency budget, which the Administration states would adversely impact class size and programs, would represent a 4.7 percent increase. Most of the budgeted expenses are mandated either by contractual obligations, such as employee compensation and special education, or by unfunded mandated programs. In contingency all those items remain, but the district collects less tax revenue.

Junior League Sponsors Two Important Community Projects
The Junior League of Long Island is sponsoring two important community events on Saturday April 29 at 8 a.m. and is inviting local residents to participate. The first of these, a Community Build Playground Project, takes place at the Manhasset/Great Neck EOC. The center is located at 65 High Street, Manhasset, across from Whitney Pond Park, off Community Drive. All who are interested in helping to build this beautiful new playground please contact Maureen Catallo at 570-2268. This is a great opportunity to give back to the community or allow children (15 years and older only) to obtain community service credits.

MHS Crew Wins 7 Medals at NYC Sprints
Although the weather was ugly, Manhasset's rowing certainly wasn't as they took home seven medals out of their 12 boats entered in the NYC Sprints on April 22. Over 100 boats and 17 teams endured cold temperatures and a steady downpour in what could be a preview for the LI Championships in two weeks.
