The American Cancer Society invites women looking to get into the swing of golf or refresh their golf skills after dealing with breast cancer to participate in a free program. Last year the American Cancer Society created a five-week program "Swing Fore the Health of It" to provide women with the opportunity to become physically active through the game of golf. The program, held at the Harbor Links Gold Course in Port Washington, was so successful that the American Cancer Society and the golf pros are making plans for the second annual "Swing Fore the Health of It" to be held once again at Harbor Links.

The free evening program, beginning Tuesday, May 2, for five consecutive weeks, will be available to 40 women who have had breast cancer surgery within the past 18 months. Under the direction of head golf pro, Nick Nicolich, each week the program will focus on a different aspect of the game: pre-swing drills, safety and equipment, the full swing, the short game, and an introduction to the golf course. The final week will be a celebration and will include some fun golfing skills contests.

For more information, to register for Swing Fore the Health of It, or for general cancer information, contact the American Cancer Society at 800-ACS-2345 or www.cancer.org.
