What issues, projects, or concerns were on the agendas of the villages, civic associations and Manhasset organizations during 2005? Parents Learn Legal Hazards of Underage Drinking
Parents have bad dreams about coming home from a much-needed vacation only to find that their house has been used by their kids for partying. Everyone knows that alcohol and underage kids can cause a myriad of health and safety problems, not to mention potential property damage, but a lesser-known aspect is what the law has to say about alcohol consumption by minors. A recent talk co-sponsored by the Coalition Against Substance Abuse (CASA) and the School Community Association (SCA) on Jan. 26 at the high school sought to educate parents about this issue.

Manhasset Middle School Hockey Club Brings Back Big Game
The Manhasset Middle School Hockey Club made a triumphant return to the reopening of the Port Washington Skating Center. The center had been closed because of a propane tank explosion which occurred during the last week in December. The Jan. 21 home game was perhaps the best all-around game the team had played this season with 7 unanswered goals in a brief stretch and ending with a victory score of 12-4 against Island Trees/Plainedge.

Manhasset Soccer Club On-line Registration for Spring Intramural Soccer
Registration for spring intramural soccer for pre-K through fourth grade is now available on-line at the Manhasset Soccer Club web site: www.ManhassetSoccer.com. Online registration payment is by credit card only and accepts MasterCard and Visa. The season is expected to begin on April 1. Game and training schedules will be posted on the web site in March. All players born on or before Dec.1, 2001 are eligible to participate. Returning players are expected to use their uniforms from the past fall season.
