She won Ms. NY Senior America last April with her vocal and comedic talent, her sense of self and the outrageous "rappin" delivery of her philosophy of life. The state victory entitled Helen Halpin McCarney to compete in the Ms. Senior America competition in November 2005 at the Imperial Palace Hotel in Las Vegas. And she did it again. She was victorious over a tougher field of 28 crowned state winners.

When the obituaries for those who perished on September 11, 2001 were printed, members of the LI Metropolitan Lacrosse Foundation (LIMLF) observed that many of the victims were lacrosse players or coaches in the metropolitan New York area.
