Marion V. Yaney passed away at the John Adams Healthcare Center in Quincy, MA on Nov. 16, 2005 following a long illness. Prior to relocating to Massachusetts, she had been a resident of Manhasset for more than 40 years living in the village of Munsey Park. Born in Warren, Ohio, she graduated from the University of Scranton with a B.S. in nursing. Prior to marrying the late Peter P. Yaney of Manhasset, she worked as an operating room supervisor at Hahnemann Hospital in Scranton, PA. Surviving relatives include her son Gordon C. Yaney and three grandchildren: Abigail and William Yaney of Braintree, MA and Jane V. Gambill of Portland, ME. Services will be held at the family's long-time parish, Christ Church, in Manhasset on Dec. 10 at 11 a.m.
Richard Ernst Ertel, a longtime resident of Manhasset, died on November 28, 2005. He is survived by his children Eileen Waszkiewicz (Richard) and Richard (Gisela Schyndzielorz), his grandchildren Richard, Michael and Geraldine, and great-grandchildren Grace and Conrad. Funeral arrangements were handled by Austin F. Knowles, Inc. Funeral Home. A religious service was held at the funeral home Wednesday November 30, 2005 at 8:30 p.m. The cremation was private. Donations in his memory to the Lutheran Church of our Savior Memorial Fund, 12 Franklin Avenue, Port Washington, NY 11050, would be greatly appreciated.
