Joan Linn, 97, of Roslyn Heights, Bayside, East Hampton and Manhasset, died on Oct. 30, 2005. She was an RN Supervisor at St. Mary's Children's Hospital, Bayside. Beloved wife of the late George Frederick Linn. Cherished mother of Catherine M., David K. and the late George F. Linn. Precious sister of the late Cornelius, Catherine, Donald O'Leary, Lillian Zilbert, Veronica Carousso and Margaret Baldwin. Dearly loved sister-in-law of Beatrice O'Leary and daughter-in law of Janice and Terri Linn. Also survived by four grandchildren, George IV, Michelle, Jeanette and Colleen; two great-grandchildren, Brianna and George V; and nieces and nephews. Graveside service held Nov. 5 at Most Holy Trinity RC Cemetery, East Hampton.
Alice Wenzel, a resident of Sea Cliff for 37 years, died on Oct. 31, 2005 at North Shore University Hospital after many years of dealing with adult normal pressure hydrocephalus and emphysema. More recently she lived in Manhasset. She had a winter home in Tucson, AZ.
Alice attended high school in Forest Hills and was Phi Beta Kappa at Cornell in 1947. She received her master's degree in social work at Smith College in 1954. She worked as a counselor in Brooklyn and LI, primarily at Family Service Association of Nassau where she was a family therapist. She was active and on the boards of many local organizations that worked to improve education and child care.
Alice is survived by her husband of 52 years, John; and her daughters, Emily and Abby, both of whom live in Manhattan; by her granddaughters, Bianca and Sophia Ambrosino; and her son-in-law, Mark Ambrosino. She also leaves a sister Rita Kolsby; a brother-in-law Edwin; and sisters-in-law Patricia Lord and Peggy Shofield.
A memorial service for family and friends will be scheduled for later in the year. The family suggests that contributions may be made in her honor to Planned Parenthood of NC (750-2600).
