The Manhasset Girls Cross Country team successfully defended their Conference Championship at Bethpage State Park on Saturday, Oct. 29. Four of the top seven girls earned All Conference status by finishing in the top 15 individuals against runners from 11 teams.
Lisa Mascali finished fifth in a personal best 20:42.4 for 3.1 miles. Natalie Bindert and Sanya Kennedy crossed the line close together, placing eighth (21:02.9) and ninth (21:03.7) respectively. Hilary Gallo came in 12th at 21:19.5. Carolyn Kim also ran a PR of 22:42.7 and finished 24th. Kaitlin Powers and Meredith Hinz continued the string of best times of the season by running 22:56.4 and 23:44.5 and placing 25th and 31st.
In the JV race, Kelly Sutherland ran a respectable 24:38.1 and finished third overall for two conferences. Devon Lawrence (25:15.6), Jihii Jolly (26:54.9) and Shreya Kumar (27:20.8) also ran their fastest times of the season in a powerful display for Manhasset Cross Country.
The team will be competing in the Nassau County Championship race on Saturday, Nov. 5 at Bethpage Park. They are the defending County B champs and are hoping to repeat and earn a berth in the State Championship the following weekend in Queensbury, NY.
