Manhasset Board of Education Appoints Superintendent of Schools
The Manhasset Board of Education has announced the appointment of Charlie Cardillo as the district's new superintendent of schools. Cardillo, who currently serves as deputy superintendent of the Sachem School District, was appointed after a one-year national search conducted by Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates; and after the board extended the search and held multiple interviews with qualified candidates. Cardillo officially begins his tenure with the Manhasset School District on Nov. 28, when he replaces Dr. William Shine, who has been serving as the district's interim superintendent since April. Dr. Shine also assisted in the latter stages of the search and recommended Mr. Cardillo for the position of superintendent.

The Juvenile Aid Section of the Nassau County Police Department is requesting the public's assistance in locating a missing 13-year-old girl last seen in Roosevelt Field Mall on Friday, Oct. 28 at 1:30 p.m.

PYA Manhasset PAL Junior Football
In the first game of the Junior Division of the Port Washington Youth activities/Manhasset PAL Football Program, the Steelers in gold sponsored by Burger King defeated the Giants in blue sponsored by the Arena Sports by the score of 20-7. In the second period, Sean Grimm ran 20 yards for the touchdown but the point after was missed. In the second period the Giants recovered a fumble by John Stefan and James Crawley ran 40 yards and then two yards for the touchdown. The extra point was made on a pass from Crawley to Aaron Moslow. In the last period the Steelers scored on a reverse by JB Thompson for 15 yards and then Kevin Overlander ran for a two-point conversion. Overlander ran 40 yards for the final touchdown. Playing well for the Steelers were Jake Miller, Anthony Porcelli, Matthew Sica, Matthew Sullivan and Jason Yunacov. For the Giants, Matthew Stratford, Matthew Wysota, Brian Young and Kevin Beil played well.
